Are you or someone you care about feeling depressed, overwhelmed by life crises, or considering suicide? Or have you recently lost a loved one?

Our supportive counselors answer the county's only Suicide Prevention & Crisis Hotline 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Also, volunteer grief counselors provide free in-person grief counseling for Marin residents.

Most people do not want to die - they just want to end the pain they are experiencing. Suicidal crises tend to be brief. When suicidal behavior is detected early, a life can be saved.

There is hope…we can help.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

If you are worried that someone you care about may be considering suicide, ask them. It is a myth that talking about suicide makes people do it. For many, it is a relief to talk about their thoughts and feelings.

Emphasize how much you care.
Listen and be non-judgmental.
Offer hope that alternatives are available.
Avoid giving advice.
Take action and remove means.
Seek support from persons specializing in crisis and suicide intervention. Call 415-499-1100
